Softsub FAQ

Monday, September 17, 2018
For those who wish to watch subbed episodes in HD or in case the hardsubbed video files are lost, I also provide softsub files with each project. If you are having issues watching with my softsubs, here are a few key things to know.

(Not sure what softsubs are? Here is a handy explanation and guide.)

1. You need BOTH the softsub file and the raw video file.
"Raws" are video files without any subtitles. I'll provide links for both the raws and the subs in the project page and try to make them as obvious as possible. Note: Raws are provided by outside sites and may require you to register before downloading.

2. Place all subtitle/raw files in the same folder.
If they're in different folders, your media player won't recognize that they go together.

3. File names for each episode's raw and softsub must match.
For each episode, you will have to rename either the subtitle file or the video file so that they have the EXACT SAME name. (But do not change the file extension.) Ex: "Drama_ep1.ass" and "Drama_ep1.mp4".

4. You may need a different media player for subtitles to work.
Not all video players support .ass softsubs. I recommend Media Player Classic (free to download) which supports the different colors and effects that I use in the KO series. If you're on a Mac and can't use Media Player Classic, VLC Media Player works well too.

5. Open the video file to start watching.
If the files are in the same folder and have the same name, the subtitles should automatically appear as you watch.

6. You may need to enable subtitles in your media player for the subs to show up.
Your media player might not be set to show subtitles by default. If your files are set up correctly and you still don't see subtitles, check your player's settings and preferences for an "enable subtitles" option.

I'm really not an expert at softsubs. Feel free to comment with any questions or issues you have, but I may not know how to help you. In that case, a Google search might help you better!

If you have any tips for watching with softsubs, leave those for us in the comments too!
